Elon Musk is no longer on Twitter? No, here's what really happened

If you couldn't find the CEO of Tesla Inc TSLA on Twitter on Tuesday, it's because he changed his handle to "Naughtius Maximus".

What happened: Musk apparently made the switch minutes after Twitter Inc.'s TWTR shareholders approved a $44 billion takeover deal.

In addition to changing his username, Musk also changed his profile picture and description to read "Centurion in Jerusalem Garrison".

Musk said Tuesday that his tweets are "deleted" and demanded a fix from Twitter, the Twitter Verified handle and social media platform CEO Parag Agrawal.

Musk has restored his handle "Elon Musk" at the time of writing and changed the photo to a younger image of himself, at the time of writing.

Why it matters: Naughtius Maximus is defined by the Urban Dictionary as "one who displays violent or antisocial behavior, often attributed to mental instability or personality flaw".< /p>

On Tuesday, Twitter shareholders approved Musk's $44 billion takeover of the company, prompting lawsuits since the Tesla CEO stepped down.

The same day, a key Twitter whistleblower, Pieter Zatko, appeared before the US Senate and said he heard about a Chinese spy on the platform's payroll while he worked there.
