Is Jamie considering a third murder on 'Yellowstone'?

Not much has happened so far in 'Yellowstone' Season 5. The last five episodes have touched on some issues, but if you had to describe this season to anyone, it boils down to: John Dutton hates being governor; Beth has regrets; and the occasional cowboy thing. But at the end of Sunday night's episode, "Cigarettes, Whiskey, a Meadow and You," we saw the wheels start to turn in the mind of John Dutton's eldest adopted son, Jamie (Wes Bentley), this which makes me wonder: Is Jamie Dutton going to kill someone again?

"Wait, Jamie killed someone?" you ask. Don't worry if you forgot, the show did nothing to remind viewers of that. In Season 2, Jamie accidentally murdered New York Magazine reporter Sarah Nguyen (Michaela Conlin) and enlisted Rip (Cole Hauser) to make it look like Sarah had just decided to go kayaking one day…apparently in work clothes. Then, in season 4, Jamie also executed her biological father, Garrett (Will Patton) in order to prevent Beth from revealing to John Garrett the orchestration of the Dutton raid.

At the end of Sunday's episode, as Jamie canoodles with Sarah Atwood (Dawn Oliveri), a new galpal corporate honeypot, the pair watch a positive report on John Dutton. Jamie tells Sarah that John is practically on Teflon, leading her to respond that the pair needed to make sure John doesn't "show up for the fight" if Jamie decides to strip him of the governorship. Now, Sarah didn't mention anything about the murder, but it looked like Jamie interpreted it as John needing to be taken out. And given that Jamie is a man who often does things purely based on emotion, it wouldn't be surprising if some post-coital pheromones lead him to think he should just kill the man who raised him. .

In the world of "Yellowstone", the Duttons commit many crimes and the investigation seems to suck, whether it's because the Duttons own law enforcement or no one else in Montana does. remark. When Sarah Nguyen's body is found, it results in a newspaper article and nothing else. None of Sarah's family members seem to care about her disappearance. Hell, we'll never see his girlfriend again. Death just happens and is another notch Beth can use against Jamie later. And as far as Garrett's death goes, Season 5 started with no mention. No one ever found Garrett's body. Not even Jamie's ex Christina (Katherine Cunningham), who is also MIA this season, mentions the man's absence.

We all love to laugh at articles that pop up regularly asking exactly how many people the Duttons killed, but right now it feels like sloppy storytelling. It's hard to believe that absolutely no onewould question the high number of deaths surrounding this family, especially from a man who is now governor of the state as well as its Attorney General.

If anything, if Jamie tried to kill John, it could make past deaths appear through his hands, if only because Beth has the proof. I'm not holding my breath, but it's definitely time someone said, "Hey, remember when Jamie killed two people?"
