Japanese Yoko wins Golden Goblet Prize at Shanghai Film Festival

Japanese drama feature film "Yoko" won the Golden Goblet Best Picture Award at the International Film Festival Shanghai movie.< /p>

The Grand Jury Prize was awarded to Spanish "Muyeres" with Chinese Liu Jin winning the award for best director. The trio also took home additional prizes, making them the only multiple winners in a ceremony that sprinkled its awards heavily.

'Muyeres' is Martha Lallana's second feature film and is a documentary exploration of the preservation of song in the Asturias region of Spain. Shot in black and white, it focuses on old women in a rural area where oral traditions are threatened with extinction by migration and changing values. As a project, "Muyeres" has had a busy career as a work in progress at the 2020 Malaga Spanish screenings and Amsterdam International Documentary Festival.

"All Ears", is a drama film by Liu Jiayin, the director behind remarkable hybrid documentaries " Oxhide" and "Oxhide II" in 2005 and 2009 respectively. The film follows the life of a man who writes eulogies for people's funerals and who, by researching the lives of others, finds meaning in his own. The film has the backing of award-winning filmmaker Cao Baoping and stars Hu Ge ("The Wild Goose Lake"). Production is handled by Alibaba Pictures and international sales are handled by Rediance.
