Joni Mitchell: the singer will make her Grammy Awards debut at 80

Joni Mitchell to make her Grammy debut at the show on February 4. The singer-songwriter, known for hits such as Both Sides Now and Big Yellow Taxi, is nominated for best folk album.

She has already won nine Grammys and received a lifetime achievement award in 2002.

The 80-year-old only recently returned to the show. after suffering a near-fatal brain aneurysm in 2015.

In June, the songwriter performed his first major track in more than 20 years having relearned how to walk, talk and play the guitar.

Broadcast as a "Joni Jam," Mitchell performed for nearly three hours and was joined by celebrity fans including Annie Lennox, Marcus Mumford and Brandi Carlile.

In 2002, when she received her lifetime award at the Grammys, she was described as "one of the most important female artists in the era of rock" and "a powerful influence on all artists who embrace diversity, imagination and integrity."
