Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer faces a furious backlash from his own MPs over 'ugly and degrading' attack announcements that claim Rishi Sunak is not don't think child molesters should go to jail.

Labour MPs told The Independent they had personally complained to their leader about adverts on Twitter - warning it would damage the party's standing in the 'blue wall' seats in the south of England.

It comes as shadow Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, has distanced herself from the child sex offender Twitter graphic - with her team making it clear that she was not consulted about the ad crafted by Labor strategists.

Starmer's team remain unrepentant, however, and are preparing to go further accusing Mr. Sunak of effectively "decriminalizing" rape in a new online advertisement in the coming days.
