Keir Starmer: We're not making a deal with the SNP

Keir Starmer says he is 'tattooing me on the forehead' that Labor will not make a deal with the SNP after the next general election.

The Labor leader has insisted he will not agree to a pact with Nicola Sturgeon's party in order to get the keys to No 10.

And he said 'good luck' to Ms Sturgeon telling his constituents if they hadn't backed Labor and allowed the Tories to come to power.

Labour has repeatedly faced questions over pacts or coalition deals with the SNP and the Liberal Democrats as the Tories try to stoke fears of a sham deal.

“We are not making a deal with the SNP. I say it in capitals, I say it in bold, I said it at the party conference and many times since,” Mr Starmer said at LBC.

He said Labor would not borrow seats from Scottish Nationalists to secure the numbers needed to form a government in the next election.

Mr. Starmer said: "The SNP will have to make up their minds if they want to bring down a new Labor government and support a Conservative government, then that's their choice and that's what they'll have to sell in Scotland.

"Good luck with that one."

He said he fundamentally disagreed with the idea of Scottish independence and said the challenges of the future would best be met by a union of nations.

Mr. Starmer added, "Totally disagree with the SNP...I'm tattooing it on my forehead."
