Klopp accused of 'inciting' Liverpool fans as boss scolded by Souness - 'you can't do that!'

Graeme Souness has accused Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp of 'inciting' the club's supporters against Man City because 'the crowd were really up for it'.

Liverpool and Manchester City faced off in a thrilling match at Anfield on Sunday in the Premier League.

Anthony Taylor let a lot of potential fouls slip by resulting in a fast and intense 90 minutes of football.

It also meant that tensions were high on the touchline and it escalated in the second half when a free kick was not given when Bernardo Silva brought in Mohamed Salah.

Klopp then walked along the touchline to confront the assistant referee. The manager was sent off by Taylor after insulting the linesman.

The atmosphere intensified after Man City's disallowed goal and it escalated when Salah scored what turned out to be the winner for the hosts.

Souness has now warned Klopp that he has a 'responsibility' and that it was the right decision to send him off.

"There's a responsibility for managers, and that's rich coming from me because I was losing my mind every game," Souness told talkSPORT.

"There are parameters, you can't face the linesman like Jurgen Klopp did yesterday when he tries to do his job.

"He was expelled correctly in my opinion.

"You can't do that, it's inciting the crowd to act differently."

He added: "People will say the atmosphere is great in the stadium. The Liverpool fans have been fantastic. It's not because of the songs they were singing, they rose to any challenge thrown at them. by players.

"They were challenging everything. They made it very difficult for City.

"But I think the referee, overall, played a good game yesterday. The Liverpool crowd was in for it.

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has meanwhile called on managers to "calm down".

"When you behave like that, you get sent off. I watched him [Souness] on the sideline years ago and I don't think I've seen anyone go to an official like I did saw it done when we played against Blackburn at home in my first year [as Crystal Palace owner],” Jordan says.

"At the end of the day, you want it halfway. You want the balance right.

"It doesn't confuse a manager who yells at an official and gets sent off and all the consequences that come with, to someone who walks up to a referee and punches them in the face.< /p>

"We can do it that way and say it's at the beginning of the journey, but people have to be responsible for their individual behavior.

"I know it's not the best look and I don't want it either. I want them to calm down once in a while."
