KSI offered for fight by Wayne Rooney as YouTube star spills beans on private DM

KSI revealed during his press conference for his upcoming grudge match against Dillon Danis that Wayne Rooney sent him a direct message asking him to fight him. The British YouTube star said he rejected the offer but would be up for having the football icon on one of his undercards.

"It's funny, I hope he won't be annoyed that I said that but Wayne Rooney hit me up and said, 'hey, we should fight' and I said no. I just don't want to do that." said KSI. "If Wayne Rooney is down it would be nice to have him in space, I know Wayne Bridge is another stakeholder.

"I know he's a good boxer but I have different goals. Maybe after Jake [Paul] if I want to do something after Jake but we'll see."

KSI were in London to promote their January 14 clash with Danis, which is due to take place at OVO Wembley Arena. The American mixed martial arts fighter had a lot to say about KSI online, but was nowhere to be seen during today's media event.

According to promoter Kalle Sauerland, Danis did not board his flight to the UK after contracting a recent flu attack. There is no indication that the fight is in danger, although KSI and Sauerland have confirmed there are backup opponents waiting in the wings.

"I'm not worried about a withdrawal, I'm used to it," KSI said. "If he wants to retire, then cool, we have people ready to fight me instead. There's a lot of people who want to fight me and a lot of people who don't want to fight me, but if he retires , we are ready ."

Sauerland added: "From a promoter's perspective, we have been assured that he is in training. I spoke to his management yesterday. But we are ready for anything, in this space you have to be ready for anything like you do in real boxing. I introduced the substitution system in the World Super Series and we will have the exact same setup here.

"There's obviously a lot of money at stake too, it's a big fight and I'd be surprised if there was a change of start given what they told us yesterday."
