Labour will digitize the NHS Red Book that parents use for their children's medical records as part of a series of reforms to the NHS app.< /p>

Parents and the NHS. would be able to see if children are late for injections or checks thanks to a new digital file, with automatic notifications to encourage them to make an appointment according to the party's plans.

The Red Book has been handed out to new parents for 30 years.

The problems with the NHS are clear. This is a 20th century service that has not changed with the times and is not fit for purpose in the modern era.

Wes Streeting

The former secretaries of health have hoped to digitize it during their tenure, including Jeremy Hunt. and Matt Hancock, but so far these plans have not come to fruition.

Labor hopes their plans will help increase MMR vaccination rates, which have fallen in recent years.

Outbreaks of measles have become more common at the same time.

Wes Streeting MP, Labour's shadow health secretary, said: 'A child born today will live quite a long time to see the 22nd century and things we can't begin to imagine. Labor wants them to be part of the healthiest generation ever. That's why we're going to digitize the Red Book, so children's health records are available on the NHS app.

“This major step will transform children's healthcare and mean that more Children will be protected against measles. Today, measles is back. It is hard to imagine a clearer sign of Britain's decline under the Conservatives.

“With the Red Book on the app, the NHS will be able to inform all parents of an unprotected child, to give them precise information about the MMR vaccine and invite their child to be vaccinated. This is how a modern health service could solve this public health crisis. »

In the Sun newspaper, Mr Streeting insisted the NHS was “a service, not a sanctuary”.

He added: “It is judged based on how it serves the public, not the high price we pay for failure.

“The problems in the NHS are clear. This is a 20th century service that has not changed with the times and is not fit for the modern era. »

Unions will also commit to giving patients greater control over their own healthcare through the NHS app.< /p>

This would include access to their records medical on their phone, notifications about screenings and vaccines for which they are eligible...
