Labor voters urged to back Lib Dems in 17 key seats in tactical ballot campaign

Labour supporters have been urged to vote for the Liberal Democrats in 17 key Conservative seats in the upcoming general election in an ambitious tactical voting campaign.< /p>

Centre-left think tank Compass has also identified 43 fringes where Lib Dem supporters could consider moving to Keir Stamer's party as the best way to oust the Tories.

The organization has compiled a list of 62 constituencies labeled as "progressive tragedies" because a conservative candidate won - although the combined progressive vote outnumbered votes for right-wing parties.

This will encourage voters on the left to carefully consider who has the best chance of winning, as well as prioritize their resources to help candidates who support proportional representation (PR).

Neal Lawson, director of Compass, pointed to polling data which shows Labor's big lead is mainly due to anti-government anger - warning that Sir Keir may need to work with the Lib Dems in the event of a hung parliament .

"One of the problems with Labor doing so well in the polls is that people think, 'I know what it takes to defeat the Tories - vote Labour'. he told The Independent.

"In many places it is. But in many places in 2019 people should have voted for the Liberal Democrat candidate and helped them win more seats, especially in the south of England."

"I understand that some people want to vote no matter what for their party. But if that results in another period of Conservative government, it may not be the best use of your vote.
