LaLiga will claim their position in the metaverse with StadioPlus and Decentraland deal

Madrid, September 13th – Spanish La Liga via StadioPlus has teamed up with US blockchain and metaverse specialist VegasCity Limited to develop a joint project in the Decentraland metaverse.

The Decentraland metaverse, owned by Vegas City, is firmly rooted in the crossover world of sports and entertainment with its goal of creating a decentralized and open virtual world in which users can experience as they do in the world physical. Users can create unique avatars to socialize, explore, and trade. Blockchain technology underpins the metaverse.

LaLiga has licensed the intellectual and industrial property rights to StadioPlus for commercial use in the Decentraland metaverse, to create a series of LaLiga-themed plots of land in the Vegas City neighborhood.

James Ashton, CEO of Vegas City Limited, said: "We are very pleased to be working with LaLiga, StadioPlus and Decentraland to develop a football project that will surprise and deliver new experiences to our audience. We are harnessing the capabilities of Decentraland to deliver high value Web3 content."
