Le Graët must leave, says FFF board member ahead of crucial meeting

February 22 - Under fire French football boss Noel Le Graet is under renewed pressure to step down for good following the intervention of a senior colleague in the French federation (FFF).

Veteran Le Graet (pictured right), who is a member of FIFA's Almighty Council, recently agreed to step down from his FFF duties pending the results of an audit into his conduct, including including allegations of sexual abuse.< /p>

The results of this audit have now been published indicating that Le Graet "no longer has the necessary legitimacy to manage and represent French football."

Yet he is still not gone while his position within FIFA's inner circle remains unchanged with, so far, no direct intervention from the FIFA hierarchy.

Next Tuesday, the executive committee of the French Football Federation will meet and several board members are expected to call for Le Graet's resignation.

But in an interview with L'Equipe, the president of the French Amateur Football League and member of the exco of the FFF, Vincent Nolorgues, jumped at the chance.

"At some point, even if we can judge that his behavior is due to age and perhaps not having followed the evolution of society, we must protect the institution", declared Nolorgues about the 81-year-old veteran.

"Noël Le Graët must resign."

“If Noël Le Graët does not leave, we will arrive in an even worse period of turbulence. I hope he has the wisdom not to cause chaos."
