Liam Plunkett and Aaron Finch sign up for new American T20 League

They will play for the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket in July.

Batter Finch, 36, is one of six foreign players along with former South African skipper Quinton of Kock.

Pace bowler Plunkett, 37, is eligible as a national player because his wife is American .

He made the last of his 89 one-day appearances for England in the final triumph of the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand at Lord's.

Plunkett signed up for the tournament - America's premier professional T20 league - in 2021 after leaving Surrey, but the proposed 2022 start date has been pushed back a year.

He played for the Philadelphians in the East Division of minor league cricket and has also expressed an interest in playing for the United States.< /p>

Each of the six teams selected nine U.S.-based players in Sunday's national draft, along with six overseas signings, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Finch, who has retired from international cricket last month, will captain the Unicorns alongside Plunkett and Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.

Wicketkeeper De Kock will play for Seattle Orcas along with fellow Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, while DC Freedom has signed Sri Lankan all-around spin bowler Wanindu Hasaranga and South African fast bowler n Anrich Nortje.

The tournament takes place July 13-30 in Dallas, Texas.

USA Cricket became an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2019 and hopes to become a full member by 2030.

ICC is also proposing to include cricket in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
