Submit a tip about your most fascinating city for the chance to win a £200 holiday voucher

"Sometimes I prefer one city, sometimes another," wrote the late great travel writer Jan Morris in the Guardian in 2009. But, she added: "There has places in the world where my answers haven't been inconsistent, and chief among them is Trieste", which she described as "a place to drift, a place on a fold of the map, nor any quite a thing or the other." This week, we'd like to hear about a city that has a special appeal for you - somewhere without the obvious tourist attractions, but still casting "a tantalizing spell."

If you have a relevant photo, submit it - but your words will be judged for the contest.

Keep your advice at around 100 words< /p>

Top tip of the week, chosen by Lonely Planet's Tom Hall, will win a £200 voucher to stay at a Sawday property - the company has more than 3,000 in the UK and Europe. Top tips will appear on the Guardian Travel website, and possibly in the newspaper as well.

We're sorry, but for legal reasons you must be a resident from the UK to enter this competition.

Competition ends September 13 at 9am BST
