Aspiring Prime Minister Liz Truss said she was 'horrified' after watching ten minutes of the under fire ITV show Love Island.

The Foreign Secretary, speaking at an election rally in Leeds this evening, said she had listened to her daughter, but quickly faded away.

When asked what she thought of LBC host Nick Ferarri's series, Ms Truss replied: "All I can say is that I watched it for about 10 minutes with my teenage daughter and I was horrified and turned it off."

The show's latest series was hampered by allegations of misogynous behavior by male contestants.

As The Mirror reported earlier, ITV boss Kevin Lygo said the broadcaster will 'sit down and review 'Love Island when the series ends this year, following a deluge of complaints from viewers to Ofcom.

The dating show has been the subject of more than 5,000 complaints to watchdog Ofcom in the past two weeks.

Many referred to the alleged misogynistic behavior of some of the male contestants.

However, Mr. Lygo, Managing Director of ITV Studios, stressed that they were "very happy with how it has gone so far".

At a press conference on ITV's interim financial results, Mr Lygo was asked about the volume of complaints and whether there would be editorial scrutiny.

He said, "We continually evaluate a program as it goes on because it's one of those weird shows every night live.

"But when the show ends on Monday, we'll still sit down and consider what we think of it, what the reaction was, how well it performed.
