Lizzo has had enough. In an impassioned Instagram video thinly veiled as a GRWM tutorial on April 11, the "Special" singer called on fans to take action on ongoing sociopolitical issues affecting marginalized groups. Namely, Lizzo highlighted racism, homophobia, classism, and gun violence as key talking points that need urgent attention. Faced with these contentious issues, she wasted no time in mobilizing as many people as possible.

"Everyone should be in the same boat."

"Living in this country can be extremely emotionally traumatic because you always feel like you're being pulled from one extreme to the other," she said while putting on makeup. "On the one hand, you know, I love where I live; I love where I'm from; and, for the most part, I love my country. And there's a lot of white supremacy."

In an effort to combat these issues, Lizzo reminded viewers that the First Amendment gives Americans the right to free speech and the right to protest. "We have the right to do that," she said. "If you're from an older generation or a marginalized group, you've seen how protest unfolds in this country. Whether it's the Suffragettes, the civil rights movement or Stonewall, protest has been at the heart of every social change."

Citing a recent example, Lizzo pointed to the ongoing protests in Tennessee over gun control. These protests began in response to a school shooting in Nashville, TN on March 27 that left three children and three adults dead. The massacre is one of more than 150 shootings in the United States this year. These numbers culminated in the growing statistic that guns are the leading cause of child death in the United States, according to NPR.

Because of injustices like these, Lizzo has been more outspoken in recent months about using her platform to advocate for change. In a series of tweets posted on March 8, she expressed her thoughts on the correlation between racism and transphobia. "Transphobia seems really rooted in racism right now..." she wrote in a
