A man allegedly murdered a pregnant woman before cutting her unborn baby from her stomach.

Godfred Aladago has been arrested and taken into custody accused of carrying out the sickening attack on Rose Asibi, 30, a pregnant woman in Atobra, a suburb of Tepa in the Ashanti region of Ghana.

The 25-year-old farmer was nearly lynched by young members of the local community who nearly broke into his cell, enraged at the charges against him.

According to witnesses, the despicable murder resulted from a misunderstanding after Rose's goat entered Aladago's farm and ate some of its produce.

The violent murder is believed to have taken place on or shortly before June 20, and rumors circulated that he had killed two women.

Tepa District Police Commander Superintendent Martin Asenso has confirmed the tragic circumstances of the alleged murder.
