A 45-year-old man endured 10 days with a metal cup in his buttocks and nearly lost his life before finally seeing a doctor to have it removed.

It is believed to have been inserted while "intoxicated", as a drunken prank at a party in Surat, Gujarat, India.

According to local reports, the cup was around 3-4 inches in diameter and 6 inches long and his attempt to remove it the next day backfired. He then suffered in silence for 10 days because he was too embarrassed to tell anyone.

After not defecating for 10 days, his stomach swelled, prompting him to tell his family who rushed him to the hospital last Friday.

Professor Charan Panda, chief of surgery at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, said this was the first case in the state where a cup has been removed from someone's anus.< /p>

The scan showed the cup was stuck in Rout's intestine and doctors tried to remove the cup through his anus, but failed.

On August 19, a team consisting of Prof. Sanjit Kumar Nayak, Dr. Subrat Baral, Dr. Satyaswarup and Dr. Pratibha performed the operation and removed the steel cup from his intestine.
