Man Utd in three-club fight for Premier League star 'should be sold' this summer; asking price revealed

Reports say Man Utd, Newcastle and Tottenham are all 'interested' in Leicester City star James Maddison, who 'is set to be sold' this summer.

The Englishman has become one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League. Over the past year, it has seemed only a matter of time before he leaves Leicester City.

The 26-year-old helped them finish in the top half for five consecutive seasons between 2017 and 2022, but they are currently embroiled in a battle to avoid relegation.

Leicester will drop out of the bottom three if they score points at home to Everton on Monday night.

They'd be in even more trouble if not for Maddison's superb form. He has nine goals and seven assists in 25 Premier League appearances this season.

It will be a great way for Maddison to leave Leicester if he can help keep them going this season. His contract runs in 2024, so this summer will likely be the club's last chance to sell the midfielder for a hefty price.

The Telegraph reports that "Maddison is set to be sold regardless of the outcome of Leicester's survival mission".

The report claims that Man Utd, Newcastle United and Spurs are 'all interested' in the England international. They add.

‘Leicester revealed record losses of £92.5m to their financial accounts earlier this year and will return to the club’s model of selling a key asset this summer to balance the books.

"Maddison is Leicester's best player and will be available for between £45m and £60m, with just over a year left on his current contract."

Former Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has been tasked with trying to keep Leicester in the Premier League.

The 52-year-old has worked with Jack Grealish before during their time at Villa Park and he believes Maddison is similar to the Man City star.

"I think they are different types of players, but they both know they have abilities and want to push themselves to be the best," Smith said.

"I think when you have players who have that personality and character, they push you as a coach and you want to help them become better players. James seems to have that too.

"He's always looking to see the best he can do. He's really committed to the meetings we have and the tactical meetings, and very vocal as well. I can see that similarity (with Grealish) of wanting to push.

"I like what I've seen in training so far and he's not disappointed with the games either. All the players are really focused and James is definitely one of them."
