Man Utd 'make a decision' on permanent transfer; Ten Hag boost as PSG snub Red Devils target

Man Utd have reportedly decided not to sign Wout Weghorst from Burnley permanently during this summer's transfer window.

The Dutchman joined Man Utd on loan during the January transfer window. He was recruited following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of last year.

The 30-year-old has played a lot for the Red Devils over the past two months but hasn't been able to make a substantial impact. He has registered just two goals and three assists in 26 outings for the Premier League club.

Weghorst has slipped down the pecking order in recent weeks as he hasn't started in any of United's last six Premier League games. He made a brief six-minute appearance in the 1-0 loss to Brighton on Thursday night.

Manchester Evening News are now reporting that United have "made a decision" on Weghorst's future as they "do not plan to sign him permanently".

The report highlights that Man Utd are 'prioritizing a new centre-forward this summer'. Harry Kane is Ten Hag's "preferred target", but they are also considering Victor Osimhen, Rasmus Hojlund, Goncalo Ramos, Mohammed Kudus and Randal Kolo Muani.

Muani has been in stunning form for Eintracht Frankfurt this season. He has scored 21 goals and 15 assists in 41 appearances this season in all competitions.

Reporter Jonathan Johnson told Caught Offside that it is "hard to imagine" PSG paying "over 100 million euros" to sign Muani this summer. p>

"There have been talks of Kylian Mbappe talking to French international team-mate Randal Kolo Muani about joining him at PSG, but the problem here is that it will be hard to justify paying the kind of money required for the striker from Eintracht Frankfurt, given that he left Nantes on a free fairly recently,” Johnson said.

"Kolo Muani has been superb in the Bundesliga and he's probably now worth over €100m, while there's probably plenty of other interest in him. Bayern Munich are a club to watch as he is looking for this type of striker, while we have also heard rumors about Manchester United.

"PSG need a centre-forward of this profile, however, and it helps that Kolo Muani is from the Paris region as they look to 'Frenchify' their squad, so to speak.

“Still, I would find it hard to imagine PSG hoarding all that money into someone like Kolo Muani when a player similar to Marcus Thuram is about to become available as a free agent; he's not exactly the same kind of player but he would be another good option and another French talent who could offer a solution for this position."
