Voters in Rochdale go to the polls today for a by-election triggered by the death of former Labor MP Sir Tony Lloyd, who died in January following a cancer diagnosis.< /p>

The campaign for the Greater Manchester constituency was marked by chaos and horrific scenes with candidates receiving death threats and the Labor Party withdrawing its support for its candidate in the race due to his comments on the war between Israel and Hamas.

The Rochdale poll is the latest in a series of recent by-elections triggered by deaths, resignations and MPs losing their seats. constituency for bad behavior.

Labour and the Liberal Democrats, to the detriment of The Conservatives won seven and four seats respectively.

Keir Starmer's party retained five of its seats while the Conservatives managed to hold one, winning a narrow victory - 495 votes - in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, a contest which was dominated by Ulez's expansion into the London outskirts.

The SNP retained the only seat it defended in Airdrie and Shotts, with party candidate Anum Qaisar winning comfortably with a majority of 8,779 votes.

Labor had hoped to win its sixth consecutive by-election victory in Rochdale, but the party's plans were undermined when Azhar Ali was recorded saying that Israel had 'authorized' Hamas' October 7 elections...
