“The thing I am most proud of is finding a way to succeed for 15 years in T20 cricket on the most successful T20 ground in the world,” he added.

"It's great to end my career as Somerset's all time T20 wicket taker and my T20 career save rate is something I can rely on looking back with great pride."

Waller reached his first Twenty20 Cup final in 2009, the first of three consecutive losses. He has been instrumental in many seasons of the club's success in T20 cricket, including appearing in a number of T20 finals,” said Somerset Cricket Manager Andy Hurry.

"Max has also been hugely influential in helping young players understand the levels of performance required at the highest level of domestic cricket, and over the years he has been one of the finest outfield players we have seen on the pitch in a Somerset shirt.

"A Somerset record, an inspirational role model for all young crick eters and of course a crowd favourite. On behalf of all the players, staff, members and supporters of Somerset, we thank him for his unconditional service and all the memories he left us. We wish Max and his family all the best for the future."
