It's one thing for a photographer to show off their talent using the best cameras on the market. But, the latest Mobile Photography Awards have once again proven just how versatile photographers can be in capturing impressive images using only their smartphone.

Judges of the prestigious annual competition, now in its 12th year, said the most recent captivating images submitted, ranging from black and white, landscapes, street photography and more, were among the best they have ever seen.

Simply stunning vivid photographs featured an elephant's bath time, a driver passing a house fire that was raging and breathtaking waterfall. The MPA received photographs from over 80 countries this year, underscoring the global reach of mobile photography today.

The Toronto-based awards, which were founded in 2011, are held annually to celebrate the art and craft of mobile photography. This year, Australian Glenn Homann championed a record number of entrants with his portfolio described as “stunning” and “mind-blowing” by MPA judges. He wins a cash prize of $3,000.

The talent didn't stop there. The awards were divided into 12 categories, with Shulong Ma triumphing in the black and white category for a photograph of an elephant being washed, taken with an iPhone 7.
