It wasn't until she was 30, the day before critical surgery, that she received a handwritten note in Chinese that transformed her understanding of where she came from.

Meanwhile, Lynn Domina had never imagined herself as a mother - until she met Amy, a spunky 8-year-old girl who was obsessed with "Harry Potter".
