This is the amazing moment a fork of lightning directly struck One World Trade Center in Manhattan , leaving the photographer temporarily deaf and blind.
34-year-old Zohaib Anjum captured images and video footage of the lighting hitting the top of the tower, at one point unfurling into purple branches.
Images of the 1,776ft building were captured during a storm on Sunday, after tornadoes tore through the South and West during the weekend.
Anjum, who had traveled from his home in Dubai on a two-week trip, captured the footage from a Broadway rooftop.
He said, "A storm was forecast, but my friend arranged a rooftop for us in Manhattan. As I was praying for a thunderbolt, it has arrived!
