Montenegro: Eleven dead in mass shooting

A gunman went on a rampage, killing 10 people before being shot by a bystander.

Eleven people, including two children and the attacker, were killed in a shooting in Montenegro on Friday, and six others were injured, a prosecutor confirmed.

Montenegro Police Director Zoran Brdjanin said that around 3:30 p.m. local time (2:30 p.m. BST), a 34-year-old man with a shotgun went on a rampage.

He shot and killed two siblings, an 8-year-old and an 11-year-old, and injured their mother, who died later that afternoon at a medical facility.

"The family lived in the shooter's house as tenants," Brdjanin said.

The shooter then left his home and killed seven other people.

In a shootout with police, one officer was injured, Brdjanin said.

"When we arrived at the scene, we saw nine corpses, including two children, and two others died on their way to the hospital," Andrijana Nastic, the public prosecutor, told Vijesti TV.
