Morrissey says Miley Cyrus wants her next album and is also parted with label and management

Many people traditionally send a list of positive things they have experienced over the year sold out as part of their holiday cards, but Morrissey used Christmas to spread some bad news about his career, ending what already seemed like something of an annus horribilis for pop polarizing star.

In posts on his website on December 23 and 24, the British singer first announced that he'd parted ways with his label, Capitol Records, before he even had a chance to release music from him - then added that Miley Cyrus had asked to be removed from the finished album which is currently in limbo.

A page posted to his site on Christmas Eve under the title showed Morrissey posting with Cyrus in the studio during more harmonious moments. The caption read: "Miley Cyrus now wants to be removed from the song 'I Am Veronica' for which she volunteered for backing vocals almost two years ago. This comes at a time when Morrissey has parted ways with Capitol Records (Los Angeles), which controls the hidden "Bonfire of Teenagers" album. Above, Morrissey and Miley during Miley's session for "I Am Veronica."

The day before, an under the title "Roll On 2023" with the message: "Morrissey voluntarily s is separated from the management of Maverick / Quest. Morrissey has also voluntarily withdrawn from any association with Capitol Records (Los Angeles).

In November Morrissey posted that his album, "Bonfire of Teenagers", which was supposed to be released in February 2023, was no longer on the schedule and noted, ""Its fate is exclusively in the hands of Capitol Records (Los Angeles)". Reports indicated that the Andrew Watt-produced album had been in the box for a year and a half.

Morrissey made international news in early November when he walked off stage at the Greek Theater in L.A. half an hour after the start of the show, without any explanation to the surprised audience.

On Christmas Day he followed his announcements of being separated from Cyrus and Capitol with a message less austere, posting the lyrics "And all the things I've seen qualify me for a role in your dreams" and re-sharing the video for the three-year-old music video for his cover of "Some Say I Got Devil" by Melanie.

The ex-Smiths frontman has increasingly alienated some of his former fans and colleagues in recent years with the right slant in his many political and racial statements. Among other laughable statements, Morrissey posted an interview on his website in 2019 in which he said, “Everyone ultimately prefers their own race… does that make everyone racist? Summing up his constant waves in the British press with statements many consider outrageous, Morrissey said: 'I'm only attacked by people who don't have the emotional capacity to ignore me. … It's against the law to be smart! The dumb inherited the earth."
