A 'larger than life' mum took her own life on Christmas Day, her family said as they rallied to support her nine-year-old son.

Jordan Carter, 28, was tragically found at her home in Plymouth, Devon at around 8.30pm.

Police were called to the property on December 25 - the day before his birthday - and do not consider the death suspicious.

Jordan's mother, Cheryl Carter, has now paid tribute to her beloved daughter and urged anyone struggling to reach out.

She is raising money for her grandson, Kai, to set up a trust fund for his 18th birthday.

Cheryl told Plymouth Live: "Jordan was a larger than life character, her two loves were horses and she started riding when she was four. And of course her son Kai.

"Me and my family are totally overwhelmed by the generosity of people, especially with such difficult times for most financially, with the rising cost of living and of course Christmas.

"However, people still donated, which restored my faith in human nature.

"No words can ever express my gratitude for all the heartfelt donations and messages at such a tragic time. I will be forever grateful."

The GoFundMe page has so far raised over £2,300 of a £100 target, at the time of writing, with Cheryl saying she and her family have been "overwhelmed by the generosity of people ".
