The mother of a three-year-old girl with cystic fibrosis has blasted Steve Barclay over the working conditions of NHS staff as he visited a London hospital.

Sarah Pinnington-Auld has been at King's College Hospital for over a week with their three-year-old daughter Lucy, who is receiving treatment for cystic fibrosis.

She said the Health Secretary's staff were 'worked to the bone' as she confronted them with pressure from the NHS.

Professor Sarah, 43, said her appearance at the hospital was just a photo opportunity.

“He was very quiet,” Sarah told the Mirror.

"His only response was to say that there was more money allocated in the fall budget.

"I think he just wanted a photo op and didn't want to be asked about anything by someone whose daughter's life depends on the NHS.

"Lucy suffers from a life-limiting and shortening illness.

"Right now there's a 50% chance she'll reach her 40s."

It comes as Tuesday will see the second day of the nurses' strike which will be followed on Wednesday by striking ambulance workers.
