My 59 year old mother asked me what she should buy at Nordstrom, and I answered this

Unlike me, who didn't quite figure out how to stop shopping, my mom almost never indulges herself. Since moving from L.A. to a small beach town in Michigan a few years ago, the temptation to live near countless shopping destinations has disappeared and she rarely shop online. So when she texted me the other day with plans to go to Chicago for the weekend and asked for ideas on what to find in Nordstrom (where I grew up in the suburb of Chicago, Nordstrom is a Mecca for just about everything), I was visibly shocked. Well, shocked and excited. Because the only thing I love more than healing myself is convincing others to do the same.

Naturally, I dropped everything and started researching. We basically had an informational interview, during which she showed me the missing pieces from her wardrobe; the styles of jeans, dresses and shoes she leans towards the most; and the brands she has been loyal to for years. Then I got to work.

An hour too late - I tend to get carried away - the shopping list below was born and then given an enthusiastic tick mark by my mother. She saved a version to her phone for reference while she was at Nordys. I turned mine into this story.
