Netflix chief accountant quits after three months

Netflix's recently hired chief accountant, former EA CFO Ken Barker, has quit after about three months. work.

Netflix revealed Barker's hiring on Monday in a filing with the SEC. Barker begins at Netflix on June 27. Previously, Netflix's chief accounting officer was JC Berger, vice president of finance and global controller, who had been with the company for 15 years. Berger's last day on Netflix was June 10.

In recent months, Netflix has taken several measures to cut costs, laying off about 500 employees, including 30 employees of its animation group at the beginning of the month.

Barker, prior to his short-lived tenure at Netflix, had been a longtime executive at Electronic Arts , most recently as the game company's senior vice president of finance, and as senior vice president and chief accounting officer from June 2003 to August 2021. Prior to joining EA, Barker worked at Sun Microsystems as a corporate controller and at Deloitte as an audit partner.

Neumann, who was previously chief financial officer of games company Activision Blizzard and former chief financial officer of Disney, came on board as Netlfix's CFO in January 2019.
