New Superman Movie Coming From James Gunn, Henry Cavill Could Play A Non-Superman Role In The New DC Universe

It is not yet known who will play this young Superman. It's also unclear who will lead, although James Gunn seems like an obvious choice. However, Gunn made it clear on Twitter that the director's chair has yet to be officially filled. But the most interesting part concerns Henry Cavill, who first played the role in 2013's "Man of Steel," which launched the current iteration of the DC Universe as we know it.

It got tricky recently when Cavill appeared in a post-credits scene in "Black Adam," with the actor shortly after announcing his return. That was before Gunn and Safran took over, however, and they decided to take things in another direction. But, as Gunn said in his statement, they're looking to see if they can find another role for Cavill in the DCU's future, whatever that may look like. We know he won't be busy with "The Witcher" because he's leaving the show. So start your fancasting now.

Cavill took to Instagram to post a statement about it, which you can read in full below. Meanwhile, Gunn and Safran seem to be distancing themselves from the so-called Snyderverse, as "Wonder Woman 3" isn't moving forward either. It's the end of something that was frankly messy and the start of something new.
