Nexen Tire renews with Man City but drops sleeve patch sponsorship

May 12 – Korean tire giant Nexen Tire has renewed its longstanding sponsorship of Manchester City, but will no longer have the club's sleeve patch sponsorship position from the end of this season.< /p>

Nexen began its sponsorship of Man City in 2015 and in 2017 was the first sponsor to fill the new short-sleeved advertising position. This is the third renewal of their sponsorship.

Man City won 12 trophies during Nexen's sponsorship, including four Premier League titles.

Ferran Soriano (pictured left), Managing Director of City Football Group, said: "NEXEN TIRE has been part of the City family for a long time and this new expansion will take us to over a decade of partnership... We want to thank Nexen for their continued commitment, support and inspiration and we look forward to working together throughout the next term for more innovation and celebration."

Nexen was a sponsor of the men's and women's teams as well as the title sponsor of the Manchester City Cup, a youth tournament played in the United States. Nexen has been involved in the launch of esports games and the Cityzens Giving community projects.

Going forward, Nexen's sponsorship will focus on brand identity around its slogan "We Got You", which reflects its commitment to always be with customers, fans and partners. They will do this through increased digital activations, creative content, and localizing content in priority markets.

No value was given for what the club described as "multi-year" sponsorship.

A replacement cover sponsor must be announced.
