Election 2023: Obasanjo Calls for Coup - APC Campaign Sounds the Alarm
The All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council has slammed former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who called for the cancellation of allegedly manipulated results of Saturday's presidential election.
Earlier Monday, Obasanjo urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take urgent action to resolve tensions that followed allegations of discrepancies in election results.
He also demanded that elections be canceled and redone in areas that would have been affected by a compromise.
However, reacting to the developments in a statement, APC campaign council spokesman Dele Alake accused Obasanjo of “hypocrisy” and “mischief”.
>He further claimed that "what Obasanjo is subtly asking for in his infamous statement is a coup against democracy and the constitution".
Alake added that “Fortunately, President Buhari is made of a finer and more principled democratic fabric. He will not allow Obasanjo to induce him to taint his democratic credentials in this regard.”
