FIFA WWC 2023: Oshoala hosts Super Falcons draw

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala believes the team has a decent chance to progress beyond the group stage at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The nine-time African champions will face Australia, Canada and the Republic of Ireland in Group B.

The Super Falcons are the lowest ranked of the group, according to the latest FIFA rankings.

Canada is in seventh position, Australia 13th and the Republic of Ireland in 24th position.

"I think we have a very good group. It's the World Cup and it's not supposed to be easy or a walk in the park," Barcelona striker Oshoala told BBC Sport Africa.

"With the group we have, I feel we have a chance."

"We face Canada, a team we know very well, and of course Australia.

"It won't be easy against the Republic of Ireland, but we had Australia in our squad in 2015. We lost to them 2-0. It's a good chance for us to come back and prove that we have improved on the team they faced seven years ago.

"We have a very good group and we are really excited for the tournament."

Randy Waldrum's side will face Canada in their first game of the competition in Melbourne on July 21 before taking on Australia and the Republic of Ireland in Brisbane.
