2023: Northern elders call on Nigerian candidates to vote for in election

With the 2023 elections just months away, the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, has urged Nigerians to vote for competent and capable candidates.

NEF warned Nigerians against relying on feelings while sacrificing skill and ability.

NEF Chairman Prof. Ango Abdullahi has urged Nigerians to abandon ethnicity when deciding which candidates to vote for in 2023.

He spoke at a town hall yesterday in Kaduna and was represented by NEF spokesperson Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed.

He stressed that the 2023 elections will show if Nigerians are determined to fight for the country.

"The 2023 elections will test whether Nigerians are ready to fight for their country now or whether they will fundamentally solve the problems of this country.

"Don't vote for anyone on sentiment. For our future and for the good of our grandchildren, let's save this country, we must vote.

“It is irresponsible to vote for someone because they carry your ethnic identity, vote for skill and ability,” he said.

He instructed the government to provide adequate security to allow Nigerians to vote for their candidates.

“Where there are security issues that prevent you from voting, the government needs to make people safe so they can vote and we need to vote for the right people,” he added.< /p>
