2023: Onoh urges southeastern governments to settle for Tinubu

Following promises by Rivers State Governor Nysome Wike to reveal his preferred presidential candidate in January 2023, All Progressives Congress (APC) Southeastern Presidential Spokesperson Dr. Josef Onoh has urged the governors of his zone to be content with Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a unified candidate in the presidential election of January 25.

Onoh said the choice of conduct should be made based on the economic benefits Asiwaju's presidency would induct in the Southeast.

Onoh said that given the recent restoration of coal mining by the UK and other parts of Europe, southeastern Nigeria, with its high coal production potential, is in an advantageous position in the economic plan of Tinubu to explode on its economic potential.

He therefore urged the three remaining governors in the southeast (Enugu, Anambra and Abia states) to join their counterparts in Imo and Ebonyi states to line up behind Asiwaju Tinubu to become the next President of Nigeria in order to fully exploit the full economic potential of the area.

Onoh said the days were over when political interest took precedence over economic opportunity, noting that what now mattered to the people of Nigeria was their economic affairs more than anything else and pleaded with the Governor of South- Is to queue in the layout he said Tinubu has the best formula.

Onoh said: "I advise Governors in the South East to toe Britain's line in putting economics before politics, so it becomes imperative that they support Asiwaju. Wisdom and experience don't come with age, they have to do with changing times. The experiences of 2015 and 2019 were bad for the Southeast and we need not repeat them.

“With the restoration of coal mining approved, the South East will be the biggest beneficiary of the next Nigerian government for economic emancipation and that is what Asiwaju has always said. around the Southeast economy and that is why Governors should put aside their egos, personal differences and preferences to understand that this is for the service and economy of this region.

"Once they developed their economy, they tackled insecurity because the cause of insecurity in the Southeast is the bad economy and the economy of the region is tied to politics from the center and once there is a good economy, all this fuss will stop.

“It will be detrimental and a case of political suicide for our Southeast leaders and the economy of the region if the governors fail to support and deliver Asiwaju in 2023. If only these governors can develop the Southeast economy, they will achieve a milestone.”

"Let's not be fooled by political analysts in beer halls and faceless online political commentators, including debate-obsessed artists who clearly don't know the intricacies of political negotiation to succeed. I can affirm with confidence that Asiwaju is a man of few words with atomic energy for action and delivery who has ticked all the boxes for success in 2023.

“Every governor should prioritize the economic benefits of his state and support the man who can deliver such benefits, Asiwaju is running for president to fulfill his lifelong dream of building a strong democratic Nigerian with a sufficiently stable to promote the country to once again become the true giant of Africa. He deprived himself of a luxurious life and sacrificed his freedom, his personal dreams, his blood and his sweat to defend our democracy and today, all that what we ask for is your cooperation to build a nation good enough to hand over to young Nigerians. With your support for Asiwaju, we will work together for a better future.

"Let's not confuse or jeopardize our economic interests and stability for Dubai-based Nigerians and bogus statisticians running for president, especially those running for the presidency as a private enterprise by informing Nigerians that he will continue to run for the presidency as long as he is alive and I assure such a person that my child will be very happy to run against him as his great-great- grandfather in 2030 if one of them chooses to run for president."
