Kano government suspends three directors for dereliction of duty

The Kano State government has ordered the immediate suspension of three principals of public secondary schools in the state for dereliction of duty.

State Director, Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Education, Ameen Yassar, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday.

Schools affected included Dawanau Government Secondary School for Girls; Government Girls Secondary School, Kwa, and Government Arabic Secondary School, Dawanau, all located in the Dawakin Tofa local government area of ​​the state.

According to Yassar, State Education Commissioner Umar Doguwa announced the suspension shortly after visiting schools between 9 and 10 a.m. Friday and found that the principals concerned had yet to report to their posts.

"According to the checks he made, the three agents were regularly absent from work on Fridays for a period of time.

"This administration will not tolerate truancy, tardiness, or any form of official misconduct, therefore, these principals are suspended immediately," he said.

Yassar also said that the commissioner further ordered that new competent principals be immediately assigned to the three schools to ensure that school activities are not disrupted.

He added that Doguwa had also ordered that four teachers from GGSS Kwa and two from GASS Dawanau be questioned for absenteeism.

“The action of these principals and teachers portrays the lack of seriousness. We are a serious government and we will not allow uncommitted people to ruin our education projects,” he warned.

In the meantime, the commissioner had ordered that the principal of the G.G.S.S. Harbau in Tsanyawa Local Government Area be rewarded for her diligence.
