23-year-old NOUN student killed by suspected cult members in Ilorin

A 23-year-old computer science student from the National Open University of Ilorin, Mohammed Isiaka, was murdered by suspected cult members in the capital of Kwara state on Tuesday.

According to a police report, information about the incident revealed that "at around 4:30 p.m., boys suspected of being cultists visited a house in the Akerebiata neighborhood of Ilorin, attacked a Mohammed Isiaka 'm ' 23-year-old computer science student from Open University Ilorin and shot him in the chest."

State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, in a statement in Ilorin on Tuesday, said: "Police officers from 'C' Division who rushed to the scene upon receipt of information, took the victim to UITH, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty."

The spokesperson said the victim's corpse has been deposited for autopsy.

He further said Kwara State Police Commissioner Assayomo on Tuesday ordered a low-key and results-oriented investigation into the case.

CP has advised the brave people of the state, especially the locals, to go about their lawful business as adequate security measures have been put in place to prevent any retaliatory attacks.

The police commissioner also assured that the perpetrators of this heinous act would be fished out and prosecuted.
