According to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, the attackers also recovered five AK-47 rifles from Boko Haram terrorists.

Sources said the incident, which happened over the weekend, appeared to be a continuation of their sustained feud where ISWAP terrorists in a silent operation invaded the home of insurgents in Boko Haram in Gajibo, a town 95 km northeast of Maiduguri, capital of Borno State, and massacred six they declared to be "infidels".

Makama on his official website wrote, "ISWAP has carried out many successful attacks against Boko Haram terrorists in its sustained feuds, which has caused the group huge casualties and loss of war assets.

“The escalation of inter-rival clashes, between jihadist groups, may lead them to irreversible self-destruction as the rebellious ISWAP had sworn to fight more with members of its former main body than with Nigerian troops ".
