Fate of Adamu, NASS leadership tops agenda as elected senators meet Tinubu

Ahead of their scheduled talks with the ruling All Progressives Congress and President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in Abuja, a number of elected senators and elected members of the House of Representatives were present on Sunday spotted in town.

An elected senator, who spoke on condition of anonymity, explained that Adamu's resignation was at the top of the meeting's agenda.

He said: "There were serious concerns before we went to the elections and many of us believe that Adamu should resign to appease the feelings of the Christian community towards our party .

"The calculation then was that our Christian brothers and sisters would soften their tough stance against our party if we produced one of them as National President of the APC.

"There were, however, superior arguments that such arrangements could only be made during the party convention. It was also argued that it was not preferable to show up in elections with a house divided.

“However, it was agreed that something urgent had to be done about this as soon as our presidential and vice-presidential candidates emerged victorious in the ballot.

"I wouldn't be surprised if the National President comes to the meeting tomorrow (today) with his letter of resignation in his pocket."

Some of the senators present at the meeting were Senator Sani Musa (Niger East), Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central). It was agreed that the elected Senator, Pastrick Ndubueze (Imo-Nord), would travel to Abuja today.

In a telephone interview with our correspondent, Senator Sani Musa confirmed that he was in town and preparing for the meeting.

He said, "I'm in town getting ready for the meeting tomorrow (Monday)."

Furthermore, a message from Senator Opeyemi Bamidele's media office confirmed that he was in Abuja.

"Senator Opeywmi Bamidele is in town and everything is ready for the meeting tomorrow. The meeting is very crucial for him," the statement read.

Similarly, Senator Solomon Adeola's media aide, Kayode Odunaro, noted that he couldn't say if his boss was already in town because he hadn't spoken to him yet today. .
