Court of Appeal grants bail to Senator Akpan

The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, has granted bail to Uyo Senatorial District Senator Bassey Albert Akpan.

The court granted Akpan bail on health grounds pending an appeal.

On December 1, 2022, a Federal High Court in Uyo headed by Judge A.A. Okeke sentenced the senator to 42 years in prison for corruption.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has charged Albert with receiving exotic cars worth N204 million from an Akwa Ibom state government contractor, Jide Omokare.

Reacting, Albert thanked God after the court granted him bail.

In a Facebook post, the gubernatorial candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, wrote, "In every situation, God has something to say. It's all about God. That same God."< /p>
