Army denies capturing personnel, confirms eight killed in attack on Guards Brigade

The Nigerian military has denied capturing some of its members in an attack on the Guards Brigade, just as it has confirmed the deaths of eight people in Monday's terror attack.

Already there is controversy raging over the true casualty toll recorded during Monday's ambush of Guards Brigade troops on routine patrol along the Kubwa-Bwari road in Abuja by unknown terrorists.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that approximately five soldiers and two officers are still missing, while two officers from Kogi State have been confirmed dead.

In fact, another source claimed that the bodies of two other officers were found on Tuesday evening.

However, faced with speculation circulating about the officers and soldiers missing during the troop ambush, the Brigade refuted the claim, insisting that no soldier or officer from the elite troop was missing.

Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja on Tuesday on the update on the attack by unknown terrorists, guards spokesman Captain Godfrey Anebi Abakpa said no member of the troop was missing in the attack.
