Asake sends his condolences to the family of the deceased viewer

A Nigerian artist, Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake, has expressed his condolences to the family of Rebecca Ikumelo, a spectator who died after a crush at the singer's event in London.

The concert held at the 02 Academy, Brixton, on Thursday was canceled halfway through after fans, many of whom did not have tickets, tried to gain access to the venue by pushing the doors.

Four people were seriously injured and four others were also hospitalized.

Police and other emergency service providers were called to the O2 Academy in Brixton at 9.35pm following reports of 'a large number of people trying to break into the venue'.

On Saturday, Ololade shared the tragic news on his Twitter account, expressing his condolences to the family of the deceased and asking for prayers for them.

“I am devastated by the news that Rebecca Ikumelo, who was in critical condition since Thursday, has sadly passed away,” he tweeted.

"My deepest condolences to his loved ones at this time. Keep his family in our prayers. I have spoken to them and will continue to do so.

"I am overwhelmed with grief and never could have imagined something like this happening."

The crooner Joha also asked fans to provide any information about the incident to the police

"My team and are still awaiting a full debriefing from site management and police to determine what exactly led to all the disruption caused and ultimately Rebecca's death.

“If you have any relevant information on this, please contact the Metropolitan Police. Thank you,” he said.

The famous event center, O2 Academy, also expressed their condolences via Twitter.

The statement reads: "All members of O2 Academy Brixton and the Academy Music Group are deeply saddened by the news of the tragic death of Rebecca Ikumelo.

"We send our deepest condolences to Rebecca's family and friends, and our hearts go out to everyone affected by this devastating news at this extremely difficult time."
