Ubisoft held its Forward 2022 event revealing, among other things, the future of the Assassin's Creed franchise. The company has revealed that it's working on several new Assassin's Creed titles, including at least one that takes the series to a much-requested location: Feudal Japan.

He also gave some updates on his non-gaming projects, including the mysterious Assassin's Creed Infinity. It will be an AC "hub" for fans, and could eventually be the vessel for standalone multiplayer titles, although we don't have any further details on that.

Towards the next adventure

The company has already announced the next main game: Assassin's Creed Mirage, a new story set in Baghdad that brings the series back to its roots. The new title has received the most attention, as it will launch in 2023 and is currently available for pre-order.

Of all the new content revealed by Ubisoft, the final DLC for Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the only one besides Mirage with a release window. It will launch later this year and will conclude the final threads of Eivor's story. At least that's probably the final DLC, because it's called "The Last Chapter".

In addition to the above, Ubisoft also reminded everyone that it has a Netflix live-action series in development. He is working on a mobile title for Netflix's games shelf, as well as a documentary on the making of the series.

So many code names

Ubisoft has unveiled its three upcoming titles currently in development under codenames. The first he showed is "Codename Jade", a new Assassin's Creed mobile game. According to the developers, it will be a full-fledged open-world AC game, but optimized for mobile. It takes place in China and players will be able to customize their Assassin.

Perhaps the most intriguing new title is "Codename Red". The devs didn't mention much about this one - but they didn't have to. All they said was that it's set in feudal Japan, and that's enough. Fans have been asking for a Japanese AC for over a decade, and they're finally getting their wish.

The last new title revealed was called "Codename Hexe". All Ubisoft showed of it was a short trailer with the Assassins symbol made out of sticks. He seems to be in a swamp. The creators hinted that there were several secrets hidden in the teaser, but I couldn't discern them. I look forward to fan speculation.
