Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal said on Saturday that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar would reopen the country's borders if elected in the 2023 general election.

Tambuwal, the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, affirmed as much during the party rally in the Illela local government area of ​​the state.

According to him, the PDP presidential candidate has better plans for the country.

"These include reopening the country's borders, addressing insecurity issues and providing basic necessities to Nigerians."

The governor added that his administration in the state has a lot of empathy for the people of Illela, being among the areas most affected by banditry attacks.

“However, despite the challenges of insecurity, economic recession and the negative impact of COVID-19, we have executed several projects within the framework of health care, education, water supply and social interventions, among others,” he said.

Furthermore, Yusuf Sulaiman, the CEO of the Sokoto Campaign Management Council, called on the people of the region to elect continuity of governance by voting for the PDP.

Sa'idu Umar, the PDP's gubernatorial candidate, has promised that Illela's international market project would receive the attention it deserves from his administration if elected.

Furthermore, at Kware LGA, Umar said he owes exceptional attention to the people of the state in general.

He pledged to uphold Tambuwal's legacy and launch a more development project if elected.

In his statement, Mannir Dan'iya, PDP senatorial candidate for Sokoto North and incumbent deputy governor, vouched for the successes of the current administration in the state.

He advised the people of the state to reciprocate by voting for PDP, adding that many development projects were planned for Kware LGA in the 2023 budget.
