Bauchi Governor talks about aggrieved letter to PDP, meeting with Atiku

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State said he wrote a letter to the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to register his grievances over anti-party activities against his re-election bid by some of its members in the state.

Mr. Mohammed gave the clarifications after a closed meeting with the five governors of the PDP Integrity Group otherwise known as PDP - G5, on Wednesday in Bauchi.

Mr. Mohammed held a closed meeting with Governor Nyesom Wike from Rivers, Samuel Ortom from Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu from Abia and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi from Enugu State.

"As a loyal member of the party, I felt betrayed, hence the letter seeking redress," he said.

He said the letter was with complete honesty, sincerity and a deep sense of loyalty, adding, "That's why the party invited me to chat with their presidential flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Abuja.

“We discussed for a long time and I got an explanation because the letter I wrote was not only written by me, it was written by the PDP family in Bauchi State, the Bauchi state government, and that's why I was there," he said.

Also speaking, Governor Samuel Ortom provided further clarification on the alleged statement attributed to him that “he would never support a Fulani man to become President of Nigeria”.

He did, however, apologize to anyone who might have been offended by these remarks.

"I mean that, that wasn't what I meant when I was caught saying that. But still, I know it will amount to a logical error.

"If people took it like me but I mean, to those offended by my comments, I didn't mean that. I'm sorry about that," he said.

For his part, Mr. Wike explained that the DPP and G5 governors are open to dialogue and never close the doors to reconciliation.

"All we ask for is fairness, fairness and justice and that is the hallmark of PDP.

“We have never closed the door and we will not close the door. All we are saying is that the right thing be done,” he said.
