Ogun guber: Court grants NNPP permission to inspect BVAS and other materials

Ahead of the November 11 governorship elections in Bayelsa State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) promised that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) would be used for voter accreditation and transmission of results.

The new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Obo Effanga, made this known while outlining the commission's plans for the upcoming elections during a press briefing held at the Prof. Media Center. Mahmood Yakubu, in Yenagoa.

His words: “Nothing has changed in the electoral process in Nigeria. We will always organize elections based on the provisions of the Constitution, the electoral law and the directives of the CENI.

“After voting in the polling stations, the votes will be counted there; they will be recorded in the physical result sheets, and we will use the BVAS to take a snapshot of the result. They will be taken to the collection center where the results will be authenticated, while the photograph taken will be uploaded to IREV.

“Then we will move from neighborhood collection to local council collection. From the local council collation, we would arrive at the state collation, and that is where the final collation will be made. The result will then be announced and a winner will be declared. »

Effiong also assured that his team would do its best to organize credible elections, in accordance with the constitution and the electoral law.

“I assure you, on behalf of my team, that we will do our best to conduct good elections taking into account what the Constitution says. What the electoral law says and what the guidelines for the election will be. We are preparing for the elections and we will do everything in our power to ensure their success.”
