Calcaterra RTW Spring 2023
Daniele Calcaterra is one of Milan's unsung heroes. A veteran of the business and master of tailoring, he runs a niche brand where an audience looking for chic, everyday designs could easily find a piece or two.
For spring 2023, the designer added a touch of eccentricity to his usual understated aesthetic. Inspired by the wind, he blasted the volumes of sartorial basics and cut large the silhouettes of his precise tailoring, as evidenced by the exaggerated proportions of the jackets and the extra-wide armholes of the vests.
Cutouts added to the airy approach, but highlighted with sequins for a precious touch, while the gathers and draped textures of feather-light chiffon dresses and silk dresses further emphasize the airy vibe.
Still, the central part of the programming was not as convincing as the rest, with its sequence heterogeneous from a denim look, leather-like pieces and printed outfits. The first two deserved further exploration, while the footprints could have been removed.
