CCP Games Reveals EVE Online 20th Anniversary Content Roadmap

CCP Games has announced plans for EVE Online in 2023, the online title's 20th anniversary. The roadmap for the year includes two expansions, several smaller updates, and Microsoft Excel integration for some reason. The first batch of these updates will be rolled out in the first quarter of the year.

CCP hasn't specified what content will be part of the new expansions, except that there will be a lot of it. It released the latest expansion, Uprising, in November last year, and it was the first major expansion since 2018. It's also hosting an official anniversary event in May to mark the game's 20th anniversary.

The first wave of updates includes some quality of life additions to the game, including the ability to join the faction war without leaving your current alliance. It's also hosting a Lunar New Year event, with other holiday updates around Halloween and next winter.

The Excel integration appears to be CCP Games embracing its games reputation as a "spreadsheet game". CCP has been working on the integration with Microsoft and plans to launch it in closed beta later this month with a full release slated for May. Players will be able to extract their game data directly to Excel. It should be noted that Excel costs a subscription to use (it can also be purchased as a standalone version from Microsoft for $160).
